Purnache: How we operate
For the season 2009, the Purnache was available for float trips only or the option to float the river by day or night as a guest from Ryabaga Camp by arrangement with the Camp Manager. This will change for the 2009 season.
These trips will be based on Friday to Friday. Guests will either drive to Lovozero where they will be picked up by helicopter or they may be flown from Murmansk by Mi-8 if the opportunity arises. A further option is to arrange to fly from Murmansk for an added cost.
Float trips will continue to be an option but the Purnache camp has been upgraded with the ‘big tent’ dining area becoming a permanent structure. We are able to offer the use of the Purnache camp and the whole Purnache river to a maximum of four rods. The price will include helicopter flights in and out of camp but the use of the helicopter during the week will not be included but charged based on its usage at a pre-agreed hourly rate if required. The key to transport up and down the river will be a small hovercraft which will be able to take guests up river to fish their way back to camp or take them down river and bring them back to camp. Guest can mix the use of the lodge with cmaping on the river but if they choose to camp, they would need to bring their own tents, sleeping bags and mattresses.
The helicopter will leave in time to ensure that guests make their flights from Murmansk. If the weather is at all threatening, we will recommend that the group depart early to ensure making their flights. The hotel in Murmansk and dinner in the evening will be at the cost of each individual.
Price: $28,800 for the camp or $7,200 per rod.
Soft drinks and vodka are on the house all week. Wine is included with dinner but all spirits are on a bar tab basis. Tips should be given to the Camp Manager only but will be divided equally among the crew. We recommend $350 to $400 per rod or 5% of the land package cost.
