Sublime Salmon Fishing on the Kola Peninsula

Brevyeni: How we operate

Brevyeni Camp operates on a private group only basis. The main reason for this is the need for its own helicopter service into camp. We operate on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis only except for Russian citizens.

In the spring the helicopter lands above camp and guests have a short walk down into camp. Stairs have been built for guest use. Later, when the water and ice have subsided, the delta of the Brevyeni tributary becomes an excellent landing place. It is then a short walk across a bridge to camp.

We provide a recommended basic daily routine for guests, which can be amended within the hours by arrangement with the camp manager or with Ponoi River Co in advance. Breakfast is generally served at 8 am with guides meeting guests to take them down to the boats at 8.45, departing the dock at 9 am. Lunch is generally on the river in a choice of river tents, in the boat, on the bank or back at camp. Lunches are served picnic-style on the banks of the river or, during inclement weather, in one of the convenient river tents located on each beat. Those fishing the beats closest to the camp have the option of returning to the warmth of the Big Tent. Lunch consists of hot soup, homemade bread, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and a selection of chicken, turkey, roast beef, ham, etc. The sandwich makings will be complemented by a variety of salads, which include salmon salad, pasta salad, couscous, or coleslaw. Fresh fruit, candy bars and homemade cookies, baked daily, provide a "sweet touch". Each day you may order a selection of soft drinks as well as coffee, tea and any other beverage of choice. Boats return at 6 pm with hors d’oeuvres at 7.30 and dinner at 8pm. Boats cannot stay out later than 6pm. There is 24 hr hot water so showers can be taken at any time.

The Home Pool can be fished at any time before or after fishing hours or as the private group dictates among themselves. Also, we will suggest a beat rotation for each pair of rods but this can be changed and amended at any time by the group on communication with the manager and head guide. We cannot take guests out on the river after hours under any circumstances due to safety reasons. When fishing Home Pool we prefer that guests fish as a pair for safety and under no circumstances is a boat to be taken from the dock.

Soft drinks and vodka are on the house all week. Wine is included with dinner but all spirits are on a bar tab basis. Tips should be given to the camp manager only but will be divided equally among the crew. We recommend $450 per rod or 5% of the land package cost, which ever is the greater. The helicopter will leave in time to ensure that guests make their flight from Murmansk. If the weather is at all threatening, we will recommend that the group depart on the previous afternoon/evening to ensure making their flight. The final decision is down to the group unless safety is a consideration. The hotel in Murmansk and dinner in the evening in Murmansk will be at the cost of each individual.

Prices upon application to Frontiers.
